How Our Council Works
Our council is made up of two elected representatives from every class, spanning from Year 1 all the way to Year 6. This ensures that whether you are just starting your journey in Key Stage 1 or preparing for secondary school in Year 6, your voice is heard.
Members are elected annually by their peers. At the start of each academic year, candidates share their visions and manifestos with their classmates, followed by a formal voting process.
Democracy in Action
The School Council is one of the primary ways we practice Democracy—one of our core British Values.
"Democracy isn't just a word we learn in history; it’s how we live and work together every day."
By participating in the election process, our students learn that:
- Every voice matters: Every student has the right to share their opinion.
- The power of the vote: We respect the majority decision while listening to the minority view.
- Representation: Our council members have the responsibility to speak on behalf of their classmates, not just themselves.
Through these elections, our pupils gain a hands-on understanding of how a fair society functions, fostering a sense of responsibility and citizenship that stays with them long after they leave our classrooms.
