Perfomances

At Lift St Helen's we believe that every child deserves a moment to shine. Performance is a vital part of our curriculum, helping students build self-esteem, improve public speaking, and discover hidden talents. From the first tentative steps on stage in Nursery to the confident final bows in Year 6, we ensure that every child has the opportunity to perform or present to a live audience every single year.

Throughout the academic year, our stage is a whirlwind of creativity, music, and storytelling. We tailor our performances to suit each stage of a child’s development:

  • EYFS & Key Stage 1 Nativities: A beloved tradition where our youngest learners take their first steps into the spotlight, bringing the Christmas story to life with songs and plenty of sparkle.
  • Year 3 & 4 Carol Concerts: As students move into Lower Key Stage 2, they lead our community in festive reflection, blending traditional carols with modern musical arrangements.
  • Year 5 & 6 End-of-Year Shows: Our senior students take on more complex roles, often featuring full scripts, solo performances, and behind-the-scenes technical responsibilities, providing a spectacular finale to their primary school journey.
  • Class Showcase Assemblies: Held throughout the year, these intimate performances allow every class to share their curriculum learning with parents and carers through drama, poetry, music and presentations.

While the final performance is always a highlight, the real magic happens during the process. Preparing for an audience helps our pupils develop essential life skills:

  • Confidence: Overcoming "stage fright" builds a resilient "can-do" attitude that translates into the classroom.
  • Collaboration: Working as a cast or ensemble teaches students how to support one another to achieve a common goal.
  • Oracy: Learning lines and projecting voices helps children become clear, articulate communicators.
